August 12, 2027

Thursday

Arrivals, town time and a final dinner before camp

  1. Arrivals in Bozeman Drop bags at the hotel or meet the group in downtown Bozeman as travel allows.
  2. Group grocery and camp supply run Pick up shared food, water, ice, firewood if permitted and any last-minute camping essentials.
  3. Dinner at Blackbird 140 E Main St, Bozeman. Confirm the reservation before travel.
  4. Early night and final packing check Keep Friday morning simple: camp gear, layers, water and closed-toe shoes ready to go.

August 13, 2027

Friday

Into Hyalite Canyon and camp setup

  1. Meet for coffee and final supplies Plan to leave Bozeman together once everyone has breakfast and their gear.
  2. Drive to Hood Creek Group Campground At Hyalite Reservoir, approximately 17 miles south of Bozeman. Confirm reservation, road conditions and the final route before departure.
    Outfit: trail-ready
  3. Set up camp and lunch Choose tent sites, organize shared storage and set up the camp kitchen before everyone wanders off.
  4. Hyalite Reservoir shoreline walk Keep it easy after setup. Bring water, a layer and bear spray where appropriate.
  5. Campfire dinner Shared dinner at camp, weather and fire restrictions permitting.

August 14, 2027

Saturday

A full day outside, then a slower evening

  1. Camp breakfast Coffee first, then a no-rush breakfast at camp.
  2. Hyalite Canyon hike Choose the trail based on current weather, group ability and Forest Service guidance. Carry water and make a turnaround plan.
    Outfit: mountain layers
  3. Reservoir afternoon Picnic, reading, fishing or a quiet reset near the day-use area. Keep the group flexible.
  4. Camp dinner and golden hour Prepare dinner together, then take the evening slowly. Respect quiet hours and any site rules.

  5. Stargazing and fireside trivia Layers on, phones down for a bit. Fire only if allowed and fully extinguish it before bed.

August 15, 2027

Sunday

Pack out, soak and head home

  1. Breakfast and full pack out Leave the campsite cleaner than it was found. Double-check food storage, ashes and trash.
  2. Return to Bozeman Drive out together or coordinate individual departures from town.
  3. Bozeman Hot Springs 81123 Gallatin Rd, Bozeman. Confirm current hours, entry requirements and group plans before going.

  4. Departures Allow enough time for airport travel and returns to town.
