Questions & Answers

The practical details for camp, canyon time and the drive back to Bozeman.

Before you go

What time should I arrive?

Thursday dinner at Blackbird is planned for 7:30pm. Arrive with enough time to check in, refresh and join the group if possible.

What if I don't have camping gear?

Coordinate with the Maid of Honor before booking travel. Shared gear should be arranged in advance rather than assumed at the campground.

Can I join only part of the weekend?

Absolutely. Share your arrival and departure windows with the Maid of Honor so the driver list, meals and campsite plan can be adjusted.

What's the plan for phones and service?

Download directions, reservation details and offline maps before leaving Bozeman. Don't rely on consistent service in the canyon.

Getting there

How are we getting to camp?

The group will coordinate cars from Bozeman. Confirm the driver list, vehicle capacity and current Hyalite Canyon Road conditions before departure.

Where should I park?

Carpooling will be coordinated from Bozeman. Follow the campground's posted parking rules and keep vehicles within the assigned area.

At camp

How will meals work at camp?

The group will coordinate a simple shared food plan before travel. Bring any dietary needs to the Maid of Honor early so meals can stay easy.

What should I do about wildlife?

Keep food secured, give wildlife space and follow current Forest Service guidance. Don't leave scented items unattended at camp.

What should I do with trash and food?

Pack out everything you bring, including food scraps. Keep all food and scented items secured whenever the group is away from camp.

What if weather changes our hike?

The plan can shift to a shorter walk, reservoir time or a slower camp afternoon. Safety and current trail conditions decide the day.

After the weekend

How should I settle shared costs?

Use the group's preferred expense-sharing plan and settle camping, food and shared supply costs after the weekend.
