Getting to Camp
Heads up: don't rely on cell service in the canyon. Download directions, reservation details and offline maps before leaving Bozeman.
- Meet in Bozeman Friday at 9am for coffee and final supplies. Cars are coordinated from town, so confirm the driver list and vehicle capacity ahead of time.
- Drive south on Hyalite Canyon Road to Hyalite Reservoir, about 17 miles from Bozeman. Check current road conditions before departure.
- Find Hood Creek Group Campground at the reservoir. Follow the posted parking rules and keep vehicles within the assigned area.

- Confirm reservation details, group-site capacity, road conditions, fire restrictions and site-specific rules before travel.
- Food storage
- Use approved food storage and secure all food and scented items whenever the site is unattended.
- Water & power
- Plan on a self-sufficient camp setup. Confirm potable water availability and bring power banks for phones.
- Leave no trace
- Pack out all trash, keep the site tidy and follow posted rules for fires, parking and quiet hours.
